He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Osborne Steele and Trixie Lamar Steele; his wife Sandra G. Steele; and his siblings, Marilyn S. Becks and Robert D. Steele.
He is survived by: his sons, James W. Steele, Jr. (Jamie) and Michael Brett Steele (Heather); his stepchildren, Melody L. Peoples (Patrick), Mendy L. Lazo (Chris) and Matthew R. Lawler (Amber); and his brother John Thomas Steele. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN or the Autism Society of Alabama in Vestavia Hills, AL.
