He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Nora and Robert Lee Batley, Sr.; his spouse Troyetta King Batley; his daughter Kathy Batley Dale; his granddaughter Sara Ward; his daughters, Betty Ward (Sam), Mary Rogers, Judy Castleberry and Bobbie Batley Stevens (Billy); and his grandchildren, Sonja Ward, Shane Ward (Leslie), Jymi Rogers, Jessie Rogers (Dacia), Adam Milner, Aren Castleberry, Kali Wilson and Natalie Stevens.
