He was predeceased by : his parents, Charlie Tipton and Tressie Tipton; his wife Kathleen Strickland Tipton; his son Howard Tipton; and his siblings, Eunice McBurnett, Vester Tipton, Floyd Tipton and Louise Tipton.

He is survived by : his children, Kathy Haywood (Tom) and Michael Tipton (Melba); and his siblings, Christine Blankenship, Ann Pody, Lois Kendricks (Norman) and Willie Tipton (Betty). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and multiple great-grandchildren.
