She was predeceased by : her son Jason Haywood; her parents, Rufus Causey and Edna Causey; her husband Alvin Haywood, Jr.; and her sisters, Tommie Carroll and Marilyn Roberson.

She is survived by : her children, Elaine Pierce (Chuck), Judith Ramsey (Michael), Jeanell Smith Gossett (Dean), Cynthia McGowan (John) and Rufus Duck (Arlea); her daughter-in-law Brandie Martin; and her siblings, Darlene Green (Charles) and David Causey (Sue). She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
