He was predeceased by : his wife Satomi Abe Gower (Kathy Echols Gower); his parents, Herman Taft and Ethel Mae Gower; his stepmother Ora Gower; and his siblings, Meredith Gower, Irene Banks and June Dubray.

He is survived by : his children, Ken Gower (Regina), Shirley Childers (Tim), Jason Powell (Tina) and Olivia Cole; his grandchildren, Brandon Childers (Kamille), Jed Powell, Frankie Cole, Carsyn Cole, Matthew Kelley, Hali Powell and Kaitlyn Kelley; and his sisters, Jannett Beasley, Dona Bateman and Kathryn Hodge. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Due to COVID, there will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to: East Huntsville church of Christ, 801 Humes Avenue NE, Huntsville, AL. Donations to be applied to Mission Work.
