She was predeceased by: her mother Ruthie Bennett Hammonds; her stepfather Raymond Hammonds; her father Thomas Gatewood, Sr.; and her brother Allan Gatewood. She is survived by: her daughter Tonya Tackett (Ken); her grandchildren, Breana and Alexis "Lexi"; her great grandchild Shawn Gatewood; her siblings, Mavis Merritt (Robert), Jeannette Gatewood Johnson, Lillian Gatewood, Thomas Gatewood Jr. and Clifton Gatewood; her uncles, Sonny M. Bennett and Ricky Bennett (Corinthia); her siblings' children, Nikki Bennett, Ashley Merritt, Robbin Merritt, Linda Merritt, Trey Merritt (Andria), Jena Johnson (Keesha), Jessyca Gatewood Cambell and Christopher Gatewood; Alexis, Alicia, Jataveon, Deion, Kris, Maziyah, Jalayah, Taniyah, Isiah and Hasten.
