He was predeceased by: his parents, John R. Dickson and Nena Wells Dickson; his brothers, John Thomas Dickson and Charles R. Dickson; and his close friends, Dean and Robert Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Reed Dickson; his children, Holly Jackson (Jay) and John Cecil Dickson (Britney); his grandchildren, John Thomas Jackson, Eliza Jane Jackson, Cecilia Dickson, Mary Ruth Dickson and Alice Dickson; and his siblings-in-law, John E. Pratt (Becky), Lola Pratt, Peggy Pratt and Brenda Reed. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
