She was predeceased by: her siblings, Anna E. Junious and Alex Jenkins, Jr.; her daughter Johnnie Mae Edwards; and her granddaughter Mary DeVaughn Carter. She is survived by: her uncle Tom Payton; her aunt Janie Payton; her children, Alma D. Carter, James F. Chappell, Bernice, Rutledge, Robert Cha (Susan), Johnny, Jr. Chappell (Beverly) and Tina; and also James. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
