He was predeceased by: his former wife Mary Knighton; and his parents, Fred Knighton and Irene Knighton. He is survived by: his wife Anita "Libby" Knighton; his siblings, Wayne Knighton (Judy), Fred Knighton (Evelyn) and Jean Cauley (Robert); and his stepdaughter Kelly Snyder.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Center.
