He was predeceased by: his parents, Atress Cauley Armstead and William Leonard Armstead; his wife Ann Armstead; and his siblings, Opal Worthington, Lela Mae Pendleton, Roy and Cleo Armstead.

He is survived by: his sister Ann Lois Henderson; and his children, Debe Rodgers (Charles), Linda Huebner (Dennis) and Ricky Armstead. He is also survived by four nephews, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
