He was predeceased by : his parents, James Franklin Byrd and Emma Byrd; his daughter Darlene Byrd; the mother of his children Norma Jean Evans; and his siblings, Elsworth Byrd Sr., Fletcher Byrd, Leon Taylor, Samuel Byrd, Alice Weaver and Sarah Douglas.

He is survived by : his children, Richard Byrd Jr. (Misty), Willie Mae Davis (Leonard) and Randy Byrd; and his siblings, Natalie Bruner, Edith Orso, Clyde Byrd and George Byrd.
