He was predeceased by: his parents, S. P. Brown and Bernice Whitt Brown; and his siblings, Carolyn, Silas P. Brown Jr. and W. L. "Cotton" Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Smith Brown; his children, Carrie McWhorter (Owen), Michael G. Brown (Heather), Silas P. Brown IV (Cheryl) and Kellie Grubbs (Jay); his grandchildren, Avery, Stella McWhorter, Spencer, Mikaela, Madelin, Rylan, Alexandra, Isabella Brown, Aidan, Evan, Meara, Silas P. Brown V, Bennett, Lillie and Mallory Grubbs; and his siblings, Pat McElroy Smith (Richard), Winford (Myrtice), Ralph (Eunice) and Bill Brown (Carol). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
