He is survived by : his son James II; his sister Rosa Hodges (Johnny); his grandchildren, Jamie Whitt, Joshua Whitt (Kayla), Becca Whitt (Dillon), Richard Johnson (Jenn) and Ashley Hayle (Derrick); his great grandchildren, Landon Burgess, Tanner Whitt, Brantlee Whitt, Bryston Preston, Weston Gann, Addison Johnson and Houston Gann; and his pets, Paco and Pepper. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
