He was predeceased by: his brother Ronald "Peanut" Hoover; and his grandfather Lewis Smith. He is survived by: his children, Mallory Hoover of Tuscaloosa, Taylor, Josie of Northport, Jaxon of Northport and Caleb of Northport; his siblings, Stephanie Humphries of Fayette and Jerry Johnson of Winfield; his parents, Shelia Smith (Danny) and Jimmy Hamner (Janet); and his grandmother Josephine Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church.
