He was predeceased by: his parents, Barton H. Newell and Dorothy Flack; and his sister Marilyn Karl. He is survived by: his wife Laverne; his children, Barton Newell III (LouAnn), Gregory Newell (Anna), Adrienne Mosley (Dan) and Lori Portella (Victor); his grandchildren, Miranda Nichols (John), Barton Newell IV (Savannah), Dalton Newell, Jesse Newell, Seth Newell, Alan Newell, Justin Mosley (Chelsee), Christine Burns (Matthew), Herchel Portella (Sarah), Sarah Brewington (Leon) and Kasey Gordon (Adam Byrd); his great grandchildren, Hayden Newell, Madeline Newell, Jeremiah Mosley, Elliot Mosley, Katie Boykin, Samantha Burns, Maddison Burns, Caroline Burns and Ellie Grace Brewington; his brother-in-law Karl; and his siblings, Patsy Lombardo and James Newell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great nephews.
