He was predeceased by: his father Ivy Benjamin Newsome, Sr.; and his siblings, Bessie Powers, Mildred Bolding, Ivy Benjamin Newsome Jr., Pauline Ganus, Betty Barth, Katie Newsome and George Newsome.

He is survived by: his son Chris Newsome; his granddaughter Aschley Carmichael; his great grandchildren, Ariel and Jayden Carmichael; and his siblings, Toby Newsome, Scarbrough Newsome, Maxine Hunter and Sally Hout.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
