He was predeceased by: his parents, John Mitchell, Sr. and Ethel Ratley Mitchell; and his siblings, Eula Ridley, Mildred Field, Mittie Edwards and John Mitchell, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Colvin Mitchell; his children, Sandra Lance (David) of Salem, AL, Penny Good (Scott) of Smiths Station, AL, Gary Mitchell (Dianne) of Salem, AL, Keith Mitchell (Jeanne) of Phenix City, AL and Rev. Rodney Mitchell (Debbie) of Phenix City, AL; and his grandchildren, Amy Smith (John Paul), Jenny Scruggs (Tony), Tracy Ables (Tony), Abby Mitchell, Ashley Benvenuto (Brad), John Mitchell, Katie Clampit (Jonathan), Shane Blankenship (Kim), Hunter Good and Peyton Good. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several extended family members and numerous friends.
