He was predeceased by: his son Marcus Smith Sanchez; and his siblings, Loyce, Violet, Laverne and Mary.

He is survived by: his wife Norma Smith; his sister Erma Martin of Tiptonville, TN; and his daughters, Carol Bailey of Stourbridge, UK, Natasha Smith of Mansfield, TX, Nakia Jones (Smith) of Mansfield, TX and Keisha Agee (Smith) of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, ten grandchildren.
