He is survived by: his wife Gail Files Dykes; his children, Susan Hitt (Randy), Karen Jones (Eric), Keith Dykes and Mark Dykes; his grandchildren, Randi Lynn Crow (Matt), Noah Hitt (Chloe), Michael Jones, Rachel Jones (Kevin Tice), Kelly Jones and Justin Burress; his great grandchildren, Blakelee Kilgore and Ethan Crow; his nephews, Lynn Files (Denise), Dale and Dennis Melvin; and his daughter Pam Mitchell Spooner.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Pinson United Methodist Church general fund, 4507 Bud Holmes Road, Pinson, Alabama 35126.
