He was predeceased by: his wife Maggie Lois Owensby (Hooks); his parents, Harvey Owensby and Carrie Owensby; his brother Willie Lewis Owensby; his brother-in-law Robert Joiner, Jr.; his grandparents-in-law, Tom and Dora Hooks; and his children, Mary Howell, Harvey, Ricky and Joseph Owensby.
He is survived by: his sister Betty Joiner of Roanoke, AL; his children, Willie of Roanoke, AL, Billy of Roanoke, AL, Reginald Owensby of Roanoke, AL, Larry Owensby (Lesia) of Jacksonville, FL, Christopher Owensby, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL, Margert Wright (Lorenzia) of Fayetteville, NC, Barbara Driver of Roanoke, AL, Betty Owensby of Griffin, GA, Susan Cooper (Clifford) of Roanoke and Shirley Langston of Austell, GA; his siblings-in-law, Ocie Appleby, Maime Berry, Betty Jane Berry, Tommie Lou Turner, Terrell Johnson and Amedisys; and his cousin Virgil Holt (Calvin Broome). He is also survived by grandchildren; twenty-eight (28) great-grandchildren; three (3) great-great-grandchildren.
