It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maggie Owensby of Roanoke, Alabama, who passed away on March 6, 2021, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her grandparents, Tom and Dora Hooks; her mother Claire Hooks Berry; her father-in-law Harvey; her children, Mary Howell, Harvey Owensby, Ricky Owensby and Joseph Owensby; her siblings, Jasper Berry, W. B. Berry, Ella Mae Berry and Dora Mae Berry; and her children, Willie Ray Owensby of Roanoke, AL, Billy Owensby of Roanoke, AL, Reginald Owensby of Roanoke, AL, Larry Owensby (Lesia) of Jacksonville, FL, Christopher Owensby, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL, Margert Wright (Lorenzia) of Fayetteville, NC, Barbara Driver of Roanoke, AL, Betty Owensby of Griffin, GA and Shirley Langston of Austell, GA.
She is survived by: her former husband Author James Owensby; her husband Arthur James "Jay" Owensby of Roanoke, AL; her siblings, Ocie Applebee, Maime Berry, Betty Jane Berry and Tommie Lou Turman; her cousin Retha Mae Hooks; and her sister-in-law Betty Joiner of Roanoke. She is also survived by grandchildren; twenty-eight (28) great-grandchildren; three (3) great-great-grandchildren.
