He was predeceased by: his parents, James Palmer "J. P." and Mary Will Chase Phillips; and his brother J. Frank Phillips. He is survived by: his children, W. Slay Phillips, II of Austin, TX, Chase Phillips Kilgore of Wadley and Julian Palmer Phillips (Brooke) of Austin, TX; his granddaughters, Jane Morrison Kilgore (Ryan Rhoades), Evelyn Marguerite Phillips and Josephine Myrl Phillips; and his sisters, Mary Ann Phillips Vann (Bernard) of Phenix City, AL and Jane Phillips Cato (Tommy) of Roanoke.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Roanoke or to High Pine Baptist Church.
