It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Joseph Pounders of Russellville, Alabama, who passed away on April 15, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Sid Pounders and Ruby Pounders (Malone); his siblings, Agnes Lou Lindsey, Mae Lee Pounders and Ray Wilson Pounders; his parents-in-law, George and Mary Winstead; and his siblings-in-law, Lois Burns, Louise Kimbrough, JoNell Wilson and George D. Winstead.

He is survived by : his wife Jean Winstead Pounders; his children, Steve Pounders (Kathy) and Cindy Mashburn (Tommy); his grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Andrea Mashburn, Ginger Hill and Sam Barton; his great grandchildren, Austen Baker, Lucas Hill, Kiera Smith, Ella Cochran and Halli Cochran; his cousins, Max Todd and Major Pounders; and his siblings-in-law, Judy West, Jerline Bolton (Wayne) and Willie Lindsey. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Spry Memorial Chapel (907 Jackson Ave S, Russellville, AL 35653). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Spry Memorial Chapel-Russellville (907 Jackson Ave S, Russellville, AL 35653).
