He is survived by: his siblings, Thomas Coleman, Peggy Joyce Adams and Arlene Benefield; his wife Sara Jean Herring; his sons, Whitney Lee Herring of Hacoda and David Arland Herring of Hacoda; and his siblings, Tony Herring (Sheila) of Wicksburg, Billy Joe Herring of Kinston, Eugene Herring of Daleville, Helen Sansom of Enterprise, Debbie Powell of Enterprise and Linda Kapes (Tom) of Kinston.
