He was predeceased by : his father Bobby Joe Lackey. He is survived by : his spouse Jeri Kaye Lackey; his mother Evelyn Lackey; and his siblings, John Lackey, Laura Simpson (Ken Simpson), Paul Lackey (Denise Lackey), Phillip Lackey (Mollie Lackey) and Joseph Lackey (Gale Lackey). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 25th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Formerly First Baptist Church of Sheffield (301 Atlanta Ave, Sheffield, AL 35660). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 25th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the York Bluff Baptist Church (301 Atlanta Ave, Sheffield, AL 35660).

In lieu of flowers, Peter would have wanted donations to be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
