He was predeceased by: his daughter Denise Inge; his siblings, Forrest Campbell French, Norma Emley Lindstrom and Anna "Bunny" French McIntosh; and his parents, Lorenzo French and Anna Fox.

He is survived by: his wife Irma "Nuny" French; his children, Julie French (Hogan Hanlon), Mike Cantrell (Sammie), Ray Brunson and Ramona "Monie" Russo (Mike); his granddaughter Summer Jacobs (Ross); his great grandchildren, Ross Jacobs Jr. and Harris Jacobs; and his siblings, James Francis French, Lorenzo George French, Jr., Richard Lee French, Betty Jean Moore, Ellen Rae Beuk and Norma K West.
