He was predeceased by : his parents, Charlie Winfield and Lessie I. Winfield; his wife Alice Winfield; and his siblings, Addie Loyce Norrell (Wendell), Annie Merle Mooney (Junior), Willodean Cooper, Imogene Winfield and Herman Winfield.

He is survived by : his daughter Alicia Hornsby (Mark); his granddaughter Sarah Hornsby (Brandon Peacock); his great grandchild Aria Haynie; and his siblings-in-law, Jimmy Cooper and Ruth Winfield. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
