He was predeceased by: his parents, Tallie Douglas and Mattie Bertha Parten; his wife Janet B. Parten; his daughter Barbara Leigh Parten McKinley; and his brothers, Joseph Parten and Leighton Douglas Parten.
He is survived by: his children, William Bates "Billy" Parten, Jr. (Susanne) of Pascagoula, MS, Robert Douglas Parten (Candice) of Irvington, AL, Rebecca Lynn Parten (Jessie) of Goodway, AL and Martha "Marty" Parten Lynn of Thomasville, AL; and his sister Louise Parten Sheffield of Thomasville, AL. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
