He was predeceased by: his wife Ella Mae Altman Newton; his son Clarence L. Newton, III; and his siblings, Mary Lee N. Herndon, Danzig Newton, Warren E. Newton and Thomas O. Newton.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jennifer N. Gatling (Mike) and Cynthia N. Parnell (Polie); his grandchildren, Michael C. Gatling (Nicki), Courtney P. Whittaker (Andy) and Justin E. Parnell (Susan); and his siblings, Sarah Nell N. Thompson, Joseph A. Newton (Nancy) and Ronald Newton (Rhonda). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
