He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Helen Trotter and Carwell Trotter; his wife Marsha Walker Trotter; his sons, Jerry Trotter II (Sandy), Carwell Trotter (Sherry), Kenneth Trotter and Troy Trotter; his siblings, Larry Trotter (Glenda) and Mary Helen Fleming (Earl); his grandchildren, Krystle Walls (Joe), Jerry Trotter III, Justin Trotter, Jillianne Crescenzi (Keith), J. C. Trotter (Courtney) and Sam Trotter; his great grandchildren, Marley Walls, Jackson Walls, Sofia Crescenzi and Maxim Crescenzi; and his siblings, Jean Petrey and Sam Trotter.
