He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis B. Hughes and Bama Hinton Hughes; his siblings, Lewis B. Hughes Jr., Herman Ray Hughes, Sarah Katherine Drummond, Dot Cunningham and Betty Palmer; and his daughter Amanda Hughes Gardner.
He is survived by: his wife Louise Wilson Hughes of Tuscaloosa, AL.; his son Tony Hughes (Gloria); and his sister Shirley Hughes Colburn (Clyde) of Georgia. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granchild; and numerous nephews and nieces.
