She was predeceased by : her parents, Robert Van Pope and Beulah Tillery Pope of Virginia; her daughter Melody Dawn Beard Dyson; and her brothers, William Thomas Pope Sr. and Jerry Wayne Pope.

She is survived by : her husband David Hartley Jr.; her sons, Nathan Sanford (Patricia) and John Dyson (Wanda); her grandchildren, Alex Dyson (Jessica), Brittnie McCrory and Heather Pena; and her brothers, James Pope (Susan), David Joseph Pope (Becky), Robert Lee Pope Sr. and George Steven Pope. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
