Jo-Ann Long Simmons Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jo-Ann Long Simmons (Tuscumbia, Alabama), who passed away on July 18, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph H. Long and Ann C. Long. She is survived by: her cousin Charlie Colagross; her brothers, Charles and Bill; her friends, Pat, Martha Staley of Muscle Shoals, Red and Genevieve Harris of Muscle Shoals; her children, Jeri Lackey of Athens, Jay and Jenne'Simmons of Overland Park, Kansas; her granddaughters, Samantha of Des Moines, Iowa and Madison Simmons of Des Moines, Iowa; her sister Jean Long Adams of Olive Branch, Mississippi; and her sisters-in-law, Brenda Long of Bartlett and Joy Long of Florence, Alabama. She is also survived by cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church (200 E Commons St N, Tuscumbia, AL 35674). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Her last gift to St. Jude's was the donation of her car when she realized that she could no longer safely drive.
