He was predeceased by : his parents, Asbury Sorrells and Romey Gertrude Smith; and his great grandchildren, Michael Lockhart, Rose Marie Lockhart and Vincent Childs.

He is survived by : his wife Shirley Green Sorrells of Vernon, AL; his children, Daniel Sorrells of Vernon, AL, John Brandom (Ashley) of Vernon, AL, Angela Nolen, Patricia Zieger (Bobby) and Samantha Maddox (Cyril II) of Tupelo, MS.; his siblings, Earnest Sorrells (Joyce) of Vernon, AL and Christine White of Vernon, AL; and his grandchildren, Tesa Lockhart (James), Gunter Lockhart (Josie), Kaylee Maddox, Alisha Maddox, Cyril Maddox III, Mason Childs (Erica) and David Brandom.
