We are sad to announce that on March 10, 2024 we had to say goodbye to Crispus Carey Nix of Wetumpka, Alabama. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Comer Payton Nix and Jimmie Mae Ormand Nix; his wife Edna Bailey Nix of Meridian; and his siblings, Fleming, Pettis, Roscoe, Comer, Eunice Imogene Armstrong, Edith Frances Tolliver, Portia Vashti McElrath and Anita Mae Jackson.

He is survived by: his son Christopher David Nix; and his siblings-in-law, Annie Nix of Garfield Heights, Ohio and Melvin Brown of Saint Paul. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tuskegee University.

“Christopher and family: you have my deepest sympathy. Nix was an amazing man, a proud parent and one of the best Corrections people I have ever worked with. He impacted Iowa in ways that are still felt today. His stay at the Iowa State Penitentiary is the stuff of legends. He was way ahead of his time. I will always have found memories of Nix.
