He was predeceased by: his parents, Gail E. Thayer and George R. Thayer Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Thornton Thayer; his sister Ann Thayer (Richard Wells) of Fair Haven, Vt.; his children, Joseph Sheldon (Christy), Jeremiah Sheldon (Tiffany) and Bethany Niswonger (Justin); and his grandchildren, Christian Gowen (Carol), Brenden Sheldon (Shea), Josh Copeland (Sarah), William Sheldon (Sara), Trinity Copeland, Jaycee Sheldon (Ivy), Ryan Sheldon, Harley Tarkington, Westin, Elizabeth and Charlotte Niswonger. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the State Funeral Service (2620 W Main St, Jacksonville, AR 72076). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 13th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The American Heart Association.
