He was predeceased by: his parents, Edmond "E. F." and Stella Mae Burns (Hobbs); his son Loy Gene Burns; his grandson Bryan Kane Mason; and his brother Lloyd Burns.
He is survived by: his wife Vinita Burns; his children, Billy Burns (Clair), Marla Mason (Terry) and Patricia Hamilton (Randy); and his sisters, Maxine McAnally, Dorothy Martin (Harold) and Betty Lutner. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
