Gerlach Jr. of Blytheville, Arkansas, born in West Helena, Arkansas, who passed away on October 25, 2022, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Klaus Gerlach, Sr. and Jennie Adams Gerlach (Winifred Jane); his wife Sondra Lunsford Gerlach; his daughter Katrina Byrum; his sisters, Frances Gerlach Phifer and Bettye Jean Chambliss; and his siblings' children, Frances Dodson and Raymond Phifer.
He is survived by: his daughter Denice Byrum Capehart (Thor) of Blytheville, AR; his grandchildren, Cade Darby of Manila, AR, Amber Capehart of Blytheville, AR and Pinnell Capehart of New Jersey; his great grandchildren, Macy Darby of Manila, AR, Jack Darby of Manila, AR, Cody Darby of Manila, AR, Cate Darby of Manila, AR and Riley Grace Capehart of New Jersey; his nieces, Hollie Grisham Williams (Brian) of Memphis, TN, Sherrie Phifer Smith (Brian) of Clermont, FL and Bettye Lane Chambliss of Sunrise Beach, TX; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kaylee Williams of Memphis, TN, Mickey Kosarek of Houston, TX, Rena Dodson (Robert) of Sparta, TN, Freddie Dodson of Spencer, TN, Dustin J. Smith of Clermont, FL. and Carl Dylan Smith of Clermont, FL.; and his brother-in-law Lane Chambliss of Sunrise Beach, TX.
Bud has donated his body to the University of Tennessee for research and study. He asks that any donations be made to the Mississippi State University Athletic Department.
