He was predeceased by: his wife Hazel Francis Bowen; and his siblings, Rex, Travis Smith and Norma Marie Nixon. He is survived by: his siblings, Coy Smith, Mary McKaskil and May Kidwell; his sons, Daney, Steven, Timothy and Dennis Smith; and his grandchildren, Charity Smith, Bradley Smith, Ches Smith, Jake Smith, Haley Lawson, Trent Smith and Lane Smith. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
