He was predeceased by : his parents, Wylie Newton and Annie Rogers Berry Blackwell; his brothers, Lionel and Bob; and his wife Billie Velma Strickland Blackwell.

He is survived by : his children, Kathi and David (Cheryl) of Gurdon, Arkansas; and his sisters, Lillian of Santa Barbara, California and Iris Anne of Santa Barbara, California. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; many other relatives and good friends.
