He was predeceased by : his sister Jeanette Mayer. He is survived by : his wife Rae Etta Johnson Pozdol; his children, Richard Pozdol Jr. (Tracy), Robin Bomar (Spencer), Ronica Pozdol and Rachel Boyd (William); and his siblings, Raymond Pozdol (Jan), Dolores Mead and Laurine Trumfio (Harry). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
