He was predeceased by: his parents, Salvador Zarates and Juanita Zarates (Caracena). He is survived by: his children, Bessie Marino of Cuba and Salvador Caracena-Zarates II (Lindsey) of Fort Smith; his stepdaughter Twana Thomas of Fort Smith; and his grandchildren, Dionna Clardy, Chance Aguiar-Zarates, Caizlie Zarates, Chase Aguiar-Zarates and Chaz'lynn Zarates.
