He is survived by: his wife Mary Nelson; his sons, Michael Nelson (Gailye) of Booneville and Jeffery Nelson (Amber) of Greenwood; and his sister Morease Woolsey of Fort Smith. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
