He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Christine Gruenewald; his parents, Karl Gruenewald and Evelyn Gruenewald (Ommen); his children, Valerie Huff (Sandy), Robert Gruenewald (Clara), Lionel Scott Gruenewald (Dawn) and Kimberly Dawn Bomer (John); and his stepchildren, Stephen Montgomery (Sonia), Sherry Pope (Tony), Kimberly Jane Smith (Tom), Teresa Brown (Nicholas) and Scott Bentz.

Due to COVID-19 the family will not have a memorial service.
