She was predeceased by: her parents, Johny Burden and Rosie Burden; and her siblings, Nell Burden, Joyce Bennett, James Burden, Arthur "Buddy" Burden, Bertha Lee Fagen and Bonnie Pullen.

She is survived by: her sisters, Christine Montgomery, Clista Burden, Betty Legg and Diane Vinson; and her husband Russell Franklin Merriman, Sr.. She is also survived by six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
