She was predeceased by : her parents, Martin Luther and Dora Melissa Rucker Fitzhugh; the father of her children Clarence David "Ted" Byrd; her former life partner Granville Bailey (Bob); and her grandson Austin Byrd.

She is survived by : her husband Clarence David "Ted" Byrd; her children, David Byrd of Lono and Carolyn Byrd Wade (Bill) of Sherwood; her grandchildren, Shane Byrd (Donna) and Amy Hutto; and her great grandchild Maisy Etchieson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
