He was predeceased by : his father Jesse Thomas; and his brother Leon. He is survived by : his wife Ida; his son Daniel Blackshear (Christy); his granddaughter Isabella Blackshear of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; and his sister Margie Dundore (William) of Commerce, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in Robert's memory to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
