He was predeceased by: his parents, Leland Edwin and Lottie Bernice Amidon Hares; and his sisters, Nancy Beno and Joan Marinelli. He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Peg" Hares; his children, Ted Hares (Jean), Leland Hares (Celia), Randy Hares (Nicky), Jayson Hares (Rebecca), Paula Lewis (Jerry), Pamela Walkaup (Patrick) and Karen Weinman; and his stepchildren, Margaret "Peggy" Owens (Ashley), Kathleen Kohlbrand (Ronald) and Matthew O'Connor. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren.
