He was predeceased by : his parents, James Brooks and Floy Brooks; his sister Betty Brooks; his daughter Terri Lynn Dupuy; and his grandson Steven Brooks.

He is survived by : his wife Lolita Potot Brooks; his daughter Barbra Brooks; and his grandchildren, Amy, Charish and Cody. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
