He was predeceased by: his wife Grace Coleman Barr; and his sister Emma Grimes. He is survived by: his sons, Phillip R. Barr (Darla) of White Hall and Tony S. Barr (Barbara) of White Hall; and his grandchildren, Allison Brown, Matt Barr, Justin Barr and Zach Barr. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
